Nail'd Fall

This is the nail design I came up with for this week. Since we are now 1 week into the fall season what better way to express it through nail art.

These are the polishes I used to create this nail design

  • Art Deco Nail Stripping Brush- Black
  • Finger Paints-Art Nouv Yellow
  • Finger Paints- Hue Are You?
  • Sinful Colors-Exotic Green 1105
  • Sinful Colors- Vacation Time 264
  • O.P.I.-Love.Angle.Music.Baby
  • Essie- Braziliant 754
  • Revlon Chroma Chameleon- Rose Gold
  • Orly-White Out

These are the tools I used to create and enhance the design. For the paper re-enforcers I cut them in half.

This is how I started my design of. I used Hue Are You for all my fingers except my index. On my index finger I used Love.Angle.Music.Baby.
I used Art Nouv-Yellow in the upper section

The dragon fly is painted with the Rose Gold

And the finished look...

Hope you enjoined....

NOTW Pearls of Music

So this mani was created this week. The intention was to be simplistic enough for an interview I had coming up this week, but also not boring enough for me to was to take it off the same night. It was a little hard for me to do this manicure because of my shaky and sweaty hands (Hyperhidrosis).  So half way through I had to modify one of the designs or I would have been up for hours. Sorry for the lack of content I was unprepared for the waterfall my hand were creating and just plain frustrated, but I prevailed.

The items you will need to  complete this look are:
  • Flat-back Pearls in an assortment of sizes
  • Musical themed nail water decals
  • Cup for water marbling
  • Top/Base coat-
  • Orly White Out
  • Sally Hanson complete SALON MANICURE 340 Black Platinum

Can you see the sweat starting to bead up? I should have known then that hard times were coming,
I started off with a base color of white on all my finger. I made sure on my pinky, middle and index finger to have the white opaque. On the thumb and ring finger one coat is enough.
I used these musical water decals for my middle fingers.
I used these pearls for my pinky, index and thumb
For my thumb I used 340 Black Platinum as the base color and with the aid of nail stripe tape I painted the middle section White Out. I place one medium pearl in the top section.

For the index finger I did the same as the thumb just reversed the colors.

For the middle finger I planned on doing horizontal stripes, but my hands were not having it, So as a back up I used musical themed water decals and just cut them to size.

For my ring finger I did a water marble design.I started with a white base coat. It was my first time trying water marbling and I think I did a dandy job.

For my pinky finger I just placed large, medium, and small pearls in a diagonal line.

Hope you enjoyed this design and check out the video for bloopers and takeout!

MidWeek Mani Green scene 2.0

So I was getting a little bored with my manicure and decided to change it up a little bit. I did not have much time so it is a more simplistic view of my original design.
This is the finished look. The base color is "Kiwi Bikini" and to add some sparkle I topped it off with "Sparkling Garbage". Then I placed a small black stone in the upper middle of each finger.
  • Orly "Sparkling Garbage"
  • Sally Hanson Xtreme wear "470 Kiwi Bikini"
  • Small circle black rhinestones

NOTW: Green Scene

Being inspired by nature, it is my favorite inspiration, I came up with this design.

I used a total of 4 polishes ranging in different shades, one them being a glitter. The polishes I used to create this are:
  • Orly "Sparkling Garbage"
  • NYC Long Wearing 118 "Big Money Frost"
  • FingerPaints "Mistful Thinking"
  • Sally Hanson Xtreme wear "470 Kiwi Bikini"
Here are all the tools that I used to create this look:
large dotting tool, striping tape, circle rhinestone(medium and small size), paper reinforcements, base coat, top coat, and brush for clean up

I start my design of with a base coat

Next I began painting of my base colors:
On my pinky the Sparkling Garbage, my ring finger Mistful Thinking, my thumb and middle finger Kiwi Bikini and my index finger Big Money Frost

I cut one of the reinforcement in half and place it on my ring finer then paint  Big Money Frost on top. On the middle finger I randomly placed the striping tape and painted Mistful Thinking on top and removed immediately.

On my pinky I places one medium circle rhinestone and on my index finger I places one medium followed my small rhinestones.  I finished my thumb off with dots in Big Money Frost and Mistful Thinking.

I hope you enjoined this word pictorial and feel free to try this using your favorite colors!

Coming back to my passion...

Wow! I can't believe how long it has been since I last started this nail blog. When my trusted laptop I  had since  2007 died on me a few months ago I let my blog go to the back burner while other priorities to head.  I am back now; I didn't stop painting my nails I just didn't blog about it, so occasionally I will post some pictures that I have of old nail art design. My polish  collection has grown a lot and I am excited to pump out new and creative designs. You are welcome to follow my instagram and pinterest. Thanks for reading and stay polished!

Ready Set......POLISH!

Hello Chicas!

So this will be the intro blog to my site Paint a Hand. I am one of the many polish lovers that you will find over the Internets and I decided that I would add my two stripes in when it comes to my style and input in this genre. I am by no means a professional nor experts in this industry, but am will to share what I know in this vast subject. I mainly will be using this to scrapbook my ideas that I create, but you never know what this blog will turn out to be.
Base color: Orange
Crackle: NYC Purple
This is just an old picture I found while scrolling through my phone...don't have the details on the polishes, I wasn't a fan of the crackle so I gave it away and the orange is somewhere in storage (sorry :( ), but in the coming weeks I plan on adding some old and new pics along with a few other surprises. Hope you find this blog  intriguing if not at least entertaining.
